Mgła: Presence
Mgla – Presence (Northern Heritage) After a stellar debut on last year’s much-lauded Crushing the Holy Trinity compilation, Poland’s Mgla have returned with their first proper release, this very nice three song EP. Composed of M from Kriegsmaschine and Daren from Holy Death, it’s no surprise that this is some seriously cold atmospheric black metal of an extremely high quality. “Presence I” kicks things off with some ridiculously fast blasting while the second track slows things down and focuses more on melody, though it’s not without its speedy sections as well. “Presence III” is another stellar frosty composition and a great end to an album that already has me salivating for their debut full-length due sometime next year.
